Now, let us begin with the Wrap-Up!!
Here are the books I finished reading for my June TBR:
Up first, I read Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas.
I absolutely loved it! I thought it was a great fantastical read that kept me guessing every minute. Literally. Every. Minute. And then the ending . . . ugh, I'm just not going to even say anything. 5 stars on goodreads Note: I believe the fourth book came out too, like a week or so ago - The Queen of Shadows. |
I then read Hidden Huntress by Danielle L. Jensen. Hidden Huntress is the 2nd book in the Malediction Trilogy.
I actually googled for books like Stolen Songbird (1st book) and really enjoyed it, so I decided to continue on with the trilogy. Although I like the first book better, I did enjoy in Hidden Huntress and recommend it for people who enjoy fantasy/magic, nonhuman love interests (trolls), and a whole load of mystery. 4 stars on goodreads |
The third book I read was Forbidden by Kimberly Griffiths Little.
I was actually very excited to start reading this, because of the summary the book gave. But after I got a few pages in, I became really frustrated. I didn't really like the heroine and the hero sometimes got on my nerves. The heroine's sister is a whole other matter, even her father. It just seemed very controversial at times, which kind of cooled my ardor for the story. Don't get me wrong, though, I did enjoy a few aspects of the book, but I didn't feel like it was good enough to overcome it's faults. 3 stars on goodreads |
The fourth book I read for the month of June was 99 Days by Katie Cotugno.
Ughh. That right there should really tell you how I felt about this book. It was a complicated waste of my time. I have no clue what the point of this story was or where Cotugno was going with 99 Days, but I honestly felt like I was wasting every minute of my life. I literally have no good things to say about this book, only arguments, which I'm not going to get into, but be on the watch for a Rant Review. 1 star on goodreads |
The fifth book I read was has to be my next top favorite! The start of Me and You by Emery Lord.
I loved loved loved this book! Other than the book before, I can't come up with enough good things to say for it. It blew my mind away on how amazing it was. I honestly felt like Lord out-did herself with this book because she really challenged YA Contemporary authors who also write about relationships and love (basically all contemporary authors). This book will definitely be part of my Rave Reviews. I recommend it to all YA readers as well as those who love a book about friendship and relationships, it really is amazing. 5 stars on goodreads |
Up next is Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen.
Now, don't get me wrong, but to me, every book by Dessen, that I've read, seemed to meld together and become one. Meaning: the all sounded the same. Yes, I get Dessen is a YA Contemporary author, and I do believe she does have some really good books out there, but I wasn't as surprised with any of her other books as I was with Saint Anything. I really liked this book, I loved the characters, the tension, the struggles of the main character, and the relationships and friendships that the main character gained. Saint Anything seemed more realistic to me than any other book I've read from Dessen (other than the small few I've read) and was a very satisfying read. 4 stars on goodreads |
This is the last book on my TBR list that I was able to read for June: Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.
I was actually hesitant to get into this book because of all the hype surrounding it. I mean, yes, there is good hype, but then there's bad, overhyped books. But, finally, I decided to give this book a chance and get it over with and cross it off of my TBR list, and boy was I surprised when I read it. I couldn't put this book down, it ensnared me from the beginning, literally, I felt the words on the pages reach out and hold my eyeballs to them. I definitely look forward to the next book that comes out in 2016 (oh so long). 5 stars on goodreads |
And now for the last book I've read during the June month that was not on my TBR list: The Storyspinner by Becky Wallace.
I've had my eye on this book for a while, ever since I had read the blurb a few months ago. When I saw it at Barnes and Noble, I knew I had to get it. I wasn't disappointed when I read it, this book was amazing. I loved the intrigue and the mystique surrounding the story and the plot. There was a lot of history to this book - and, no, I'm not talking about the boring history - that gave a lot of insight to where Wallace was heading with this story. I'm excited to see where the next book takes the main characters! 5 stars on goodreads |
